Birkdale offers affordable living options only 21 km from Brisbane CBD but is a place to escape from the inner city hustle and bustle.
Birkdale is surrounded by the suburbs of Alexandra Hills, Capalaba, Chandler, Ransome, Thorneside and Wellington Point. Major features are a canal-style housing development known as Aquatic Paradise, a shopping precinct located near Aquatic Paradise and a retirement village known as Wellington Manor. It is also soon to become the host of the White Water Rafting for the 2032 Olympics labelled the new Birkdale Community Precinct.
The People
Birkdale attracts many younger families due to the more affordable living options, which are by no way regarded as cheap. There is a good road connection with the massive benefit of the train line to Brisbane CBD.
The canal-style housing development known as Aquatic Paradise attracts slightly older demography as the prices here are elevated.
The Lifestyle
Birkdale is known as a great suburb to live in, travelling to and from work and to other suburbs for entertainment. It does offer an access point to the bay along with plenty of parks and a golf course.
The Cleveland railway line enters the locality from the north-west (Thorneside) and exits to the east (Wellington Point) with the locality being served by the Birkdale railway station.
